Varanasi, 30 May. Hansraj Vishwakarma, who recently took oath as Minister of State in the Uttar Pradesh government, has assured to build a media house for journalists in Varanasi, the parliamentary constituency of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.


Hansraj Vishwakarma, the chief guest of the function organized by the Varanasi unit of Uttar Pradesh Association of Journalists (UPJ) on Saturday on the occasion of Hindi Journalism Day, also said in his address that he is committed to extend his support for the welfare of journalists.

Prominent journalists of Kashi were also honored during the function organized at Hotel Ravindraya Residency in Shivpur. Hansraj, Minister of State in the Ministry of Small and Medium Enterprises, honored senior journalists Shubhakar Dubey, Suresh Pratap Singh, Vikas Pathak, Yogesh Kumar Gupt, Sharad Vajpayee and Pradeep Upadhyay with the ‘Journalism Shikhar’ award.

Hansraj Vishwakarma, who got a place in the state cabinet for the first time after serving as the District President of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Varanasi for many years as a Member of Legislative Council (MLC), said that whatever problems the journalists are facing, efforts will be made to solve them by taking them to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. He asked Monesh Srivastava, General Secretary of Upaj, Varanasi Unit, to prepare a report and give it to him, which will be sent to the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister and efforts will be made to implement it.


BS Subramaniam Mani, representative of Kanchi Kamakoti Peeth, the special guest of the function, said in his address, ‘Just as we start the day by having darshan of Lord Bhaskar, in the same way we become aware of the activities in the country and abroad through newspapers in the morning. The role of journalists becomes important in this.

The main speaker, Acharya Bal Lakhendra ji of BHU Journalism Department, said that English will have to be left for Hindi journalism. Today Hindi journalism has an important reputation in the entire country. Special guest, former Legislative Council member Chet Narayan Singh said that journalism has become a risky job today, yet unfortunately there is no system for the safety of journalists even today.


Demand raised for cash less medical facilities for journalists and newspaper workers


Vinod Baghi, president of Upaj, Varanasi unit, put forward a demand before the minister that today the government is providing medical facilities to everyone, but it is very unfortunate that journalists and newspaper workers are not provided any medical facilities. He demanded the government to provide cash less medical facilities.


On this occasion, world famous tabla player Pandit Ashok Pandey along with Pandit Sukhdev Mishra ji on violin enthralled the people with their performance.
