Before the final of IPL 2026, BCCI has issued an advisory to all the franchises regarding the use of smart sunglasses, in which it said that the use of smart sunglasses can affect the safety and fairness of the match. The Board believes that these goggles are equipped with various communication facilities like live streaming, video calling, sending or receiving messages through mobile data or Wi-Fi.
According to BCCI, instructions have been issued to all the players and support staff regarding this rule. Now players and support staff of IPL teams will have to submit their mobile phones and smart watches along with smart sunglasses to the Security Liaison Officer while entering the field.
