If you are bored of eating the same type of pulses every day, then you can make some changes in your diet. To make dal in a different style, you can try this easy recipe of Shahi dal. In this, milk, ghee and spices are used along with lentils, due to which its taste becomes quite different and creamy from normal lentils.

The special thing is that no special or expensive material is required to make it. Delicious shahi dal can be prepared with the ingredients available at home.
Prepare dal like this
First of all take dal of your choice. Moong dal, chana dal or other dal can be used for this. Wash the lentils thoroughly and soak them in water for some time.
Now cook it with water until the dal becomes completely soft. After cooking, mash the lentils lightly. Keep in mind that the dal should not be very thin, because Shahi dal tastes better in thick texture.
Prepare tadka with spices
Now heat some ghee in a pan. After adding cumin seeds, add finely chopped onion and ginger-garlic and fry. Cook until the onion turns light golden.
After this add turmeric, red chilli and some garam masala. Do not fry the spices for too long, otherwise they may taste bitter.
Now add the prepared dal to it and mix it well with the spices.
Take special care while pouring milk
After the lentils and spices mix well, slowly add milk to it. While adding milk, keep stirring the dal continuously. Keep the gas flame low, so that the chances of milk curdling is less.
Now add salt as per taste. If you want to increase the aroma and taste a little more, you can also add Kasuri Methi in it. Cook everything on low flame for about 2 minutes.

Give a royal touch like this
When the pulses and milk mix well and the mixture becomes slightly thick, turn off the gas. Add some ghee and finely chopped green coriander on top.
If you want to make it more rich, you can also add some cream, chopped cashews or almonds while serving. With this, both the taste and look of the dal will become royal.

Serve with anything from roti to rice.
Shahi dal can be served with roti, paratha, naan or rice. Its creamy and spicy taste makes the food completely different from ordinary lentils.
If you want to include something different in the menu on special occasions or want to bring a new taste to your everyday food, this recipe can be an easy option.
